Dallas builder takes the train to Rowlett for new apartment project

Feb 20, 2020

A new transit-oriented development is on the way in Rowlett.

Dallas-based apartment builder Zale Properties is doing a new rental community near DART's light rail station in Rowlett.

"We are one block from the DART Station 0151 the final stop going east for people who want to commute into Dallas," said CEO Robert Zale. "And we are right off George Bush Turnpike. "It's the last large land tract in downtown."

The 302-unit Rowlett Station project is valued at more than $35 million and was designed by JHP Architecture.

"We break ground on Monday," Zale said. "We will be leasing first units in the second quarter of 2021."

Zale Properties is a family-owned real estate firm that has built apartments in Richardson and East Dallas.

Dallas-Fort Worth is the country's top apartment building market with about 43,000 units under construction.
